HAKI TEMPORARY FIRE ESCAPE HITS ALL THE RIGHT LEVELS

The need to replace a fire escape at student accommodation in the centre of London required the erection of a temporary fire escape while the work was being undertaken.

Built in 1931 in Clerkenwell, Arbour House accommodates 181 first year students attending the neighbouring City University of London.

A combination of limited space and varying exit levels on the six storey building meant that the solution had to be both fully compliant and sufficiently adaptable to allow the scaffold design to deviate from the “standard” public access staircase (PAS) configuration.

JDC Scaffolding knew that a Haki public access staircase supplied by UKSSH was the perfect solution.

Despite having relatively confined space in which to build the temporary fire escape, the Haki PAS fitted the bill – and the space – perfectly.

Providing fast and efficient public access and egress with safe working loads up to 7.5 kNm2 and with unique tamper proof locking devices to ensure maximum safety, Haki public access staircases are fully compliant with the strictest safety standards and offer the perfect temporary fire escape solutions.
